RDA 2010 Architecture Tour: Southgate
Title: RDA 2010 Architecture Tour: Southgate
Location: Various locations

Description: Southgate is undergoing considerable change, yet it has retained its close-knit community feeling. Most of the original housing stock is extant, with new homebuyers choosing to remodel rather than tear down. Architects and designers working in the neighborhood have successfully integrated their designs into the older fabric, respecting the neighborhood’s deed restrictions. The community is thriving, leveraging the same attributes the subdivision had when first developed: location close to big employment centers, excellent schools, transportation via bus and light rail, and nearby shopping at the Rice Village, on Holcombe, and in the medical center. Residents often walk to their jobs shaded by large trees that were planted 75 years ago on what had once been open coastal plain.
Tour Admission for RDA Members and Guests:
$25 for all houses;
$15 for students; senior citizens over 65 years old.
The tour is open only to RDA members and guests. RDA Memberships beginning at $45 can be purchased in advance at the RDA office, online, or at the three locations on the tour and include a complimentary tour ticket (Household level and higher include two complimentary tickets).
