Ocean Conservancy working to end overfishing in the Gulf of Mexico

Public Comment Period open through October 16, 2009. In early 2007, Congress strengthened the conservation provisions of our nation’s fisheries law, the Magnuson-Stevens Act. The improved law reinforces our nation’s commitment to sustainable fishing and requires the setting of catch levels according to scientific recommendations.
Right now Gulf fishery managers are updating their fishing rules to comply with the new legal requirements. Please let fisheries managers know we need strong, precautionary policies in the Gulf of Mexico to end overfishing once and for all. http://www.oceanconservancy.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=13573&ne
