UH Flare Project seeks volunteers
Mothers for Clean Air writes “The University of Houston is seeking volunteers for a flare study taking place April 15 through May 31. The Study of Houston Atmospheric Radical Precursors (SHARP) is coordinated through Professor Barry Lefer, UH department of geosciences. Volunteers are asked to keep a log and report flare sitings. If you see a flare, please call to report it immediately, and a flare response team will be dispatched to areas where flares are spotted in an effort to monitor the air in that location. For the flare log, record flare location, flare start time, flare stop time and flare size (minor or major flare).  The response team will not be able to make it out to every flare reported, according to Lefer, but having volunteers keep logs of the flares they have sited will be a significant help to the study.  For more info, please call GHASP/MfCA at (713) 528-3779 or visit the SHARP Web site: sharp.hnet.uh.edu/doku.php/home.
