Junkyard Drive In: Behind the Screen

Buffalo Bayou Partnership, Aurora Picture Show, and The Center for Land Use Interpretation (CLUI) present a drive-in screening of industrial and informational films on the subject of oil, at the site of a former auto junkyard on Buffalo Bayou on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Pack your tailgate picnic, or buy dinner from the mobile taco stand, and then tune in your car radio to learn about the industry that makes Texas tick.

This event is programmed in conjunction with the Blaffer museum exhibition of Texas Oil: Landscape of an Industry. Buffalo Bayou Partnership joined with the University of Houston Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts, and Blaffer Gallery, the Art Museum of the University of Houston to present a multifaceted, collaborative project that features the CLUI in a series of spring 2009 events and an exhibition Texas Oil: Landscape of an Industry, on view at Blaffler Gallery, through March 29.

Free. Drive in and park as directed. Attendees will view the film from personal vehicles with live radio. More online.
