LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION!
The completion of the Sabine-to-Bagby Promenade, a new 23-acre park along the banks of Buffalo Bayou in downtown Houston, will be celebrated in extravagant style on Saturday, June 10, from 7 pm to midnight. The park runs along the banks of Buffalo Bayou and features jogging and biking trails, lush landscaping, and a pedestrian bridge. The park will be illuminated by a spectacular blue and white array of lights designed by artist Stephen Korn and lighting firm L’Observatoire. The lights will change color according to the phases of the moon. The opening will feature a floating movie screen showing Two Rivers by Peter Hutton, Ten Skies by James Benning, and Sunset by Andy Warhol. There will also be live music, food, and beverages along the hike and bike trails, various strolling entertainers, and boat rides. Fireworks will follow the lighting ceremony. The festivities will be along the bayou between Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive. The event is free. For more information visit the Buffalo Bayou Partnership website or call (713) 752-0314, ext. 7.
