NEW MEMBER GROUPS WELCOME

Citizens’ Environmental Coalition is accepting applications now from organizations that want to become members. We are a broad-based collection of diverse non-profit, governmental, educational, professional, service, advocacy, and recreational groups engaged in environmental and conservation work and activities in the 13 counties surrounding Harris County. Our mission is to foster dialogue, education, and collaboration about environmental issues and to serve as an information-clearing house for our members and the community at large.We publish this weekly news Update, which has nearly 10,000 subscribers;

Maintain a detailed calendar of member-group events at ;

Publish a bound resource guide that contains information about our member groups and contact information for local governmental and environmental entities;

Host an annual meeting with a speaker about a timely environmental topic; and

Recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the local environment with annual Synergy Awards.

Member benefits are:

  • A listing for your group in our 2008/2009 Resource Guide, which will be distributed to 4,000 teachers, elected officials, and media personnel;
  • A link to your website on the CEC web site;
  • Inclusion of your events on the CEC calendar and in the Update;
  • Invitations to “Leadership Luncheons”, inexpensive events that features a speaker on a capacity-building topic;
  • Addition of your group’s officers to the CEC leadership mailing list; and
  • Display of your group’s materials in the CEC office and at outreach events when appropriate.We were founded in 1970, and incorporated as a non-profit corporation in 1971. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation. Dues are $75 per year. Scholarships are available. For an application, send an e-mail to ella@cechouston.org.
