ENVIRONMENTAL NEWS UPDATE TO RECEIVE AWARD

The Park People will present awards at its annual meeting on Thursday, January 17 at 5:30 pm. CEC will be honored with the media award, for “outstanding weekly coverage of parks and open space issues.” Other award recipients will be Mayor White, who will receive the George R. Brown Award; Henderson Smith, who will receive the Sandy Reed Memorial Volunteer Award; and University of Houston, which will receive the Preservation Award. The State Parks Legislative Team – Hon. Harvey Hilderbran, George Bristol, The Hon. John Montford, Walt Dabney, Joe Turner, Ann Lents, Jeff Moseley, Claire Caudill, Evelyn Merz and Houston Audubon Society – will be honored for their work on legislation that doubles funding for state parks.
