HELP CONDUCT HEALTH SURVEY SATURDAY

On Saturday, November 3rd, volunteers with local environmental groups including CLEAN, t.e.j.a.s. (Texas Environmental Justice Advocacy Services), GHASP (Galveston-Houston Association for Smog Prevention) and Mothers for Clean Air, will conduct a health survey of Manchester residents. Manchester is a community on Houston’s southeast side directly neighboring the industrial facilities along the Houston Ship Channel. Volunteers are welcome. Meet at Hartman Park, 9311 E. Avenue P, at 9:45 am.The survey is being conducted to gather evidence to respond to the EPA’s recent proposal that air pollution in the Houston region is not significant enough to harm human health, and no further action is needed to stop harmful emissions. The EPA does not take long-term health impacts of hazardous air pollutants into consideration when formulating pollution standards, because they assume that few people live in polluted communities like Manchester for a lifetime. For more information, call (713) 524- 3000 or email info@cleanhouston.org.
