MIDTOWN / 4TH WARD BIKE RIDE SUNDAY
Join Sierra Club members on Sunday, August 26, as they explore the diversity that is Houston. This trip is to the west side of the Midtown area and into Fourth Ward which was once Freedman’s town. The ride/tour will be about two hours. The historic Fourth Ward is soon to be a memory swallowed up by the development that happened after Allen Park Village was torn down not many years ago. The highlight of the ride will be a free guided tour by volunteers from The Rutherford B. H. Yates Museum at 1314 Andrews at Wilson. You don’t have to be a bike rider to visit the museum. The museum tour will be about 9 am. Cyclists will start at the Rose Garden parking lot in Hermann Park at 8 am. Helmets are required. After the ride, the group will have at meal at an inexpensive local Vietnamese restaurant. For information, call John Berlinghoff at (713) or johnb@hal-pc.org.
