EARTH CAMP ASSISTANT

The City of Austin is offering a temporary/part time educator position with Earth Camp. Earth Camp is the City of Austin’s four-day, outdoor environmental science education program for fifth-grade students from Title I schools in Austin Independent School District. The primary focus is watersheds, the Edwards Aquifer and the preservation of water quality. All content is correlated to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. The approach depends on field trips with hands-on science investigations. Earth Camp Assistant will be trained with information about Austin’s watersheds and the Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer, and to lead the Watershed Scavenger Hunt, Macroinvertebrate Test, and Green Gardening. Assistants will receive $20 per hour. They will work 8:30-12:30 four days per week for twenty-three weeks of the school year, as well as one day per week for an additional six weeks of the school year.
