LAST CALL FOR COMMENTS ON 2035 TRANSIT PLAN

The deadline for public comments for the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s draft 2035 Regional Transportation Plan is July 16. The plan, which took 18 months to develop, represents long-range goals, needs and projected transportation projects for Harris County and the seven counties that surround it. The plan includes proposed future roadway and transit improvements and identifies environmental and land use issues. “This plan is by far the most important determinant of quality of life for Houston’s future,” says David Crossley of the Gulf Coast Institute. “Fortunately, it’s a very smart plan with a vision and goals based largely on citizen values. But there are problems, in that the huge list of projects, left over from earlier times, threatens to seriously degrade quality of life throughout the region.”For information on the 2035 plan, its projects, or to post a comment, visit the plan’s website or call (713) 627-3200.
