Coastal Prairie Conservancy seeks REgional Programs Manager

The Coastal Prairie Conservancy (CPC) seeks a motivated individual to serve as key member of the CPC’s conservation program team across CPC’s 9-county region and to coordinate partner activities the grasslands of Southeast Texas. CPC is a nonprofit land trust sustaining a resilient Texas by preserving coastal prairies, wetlands, farms, and ranches to benefit people and wildlife forever.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Working with the Vice President and General Counsel, support Texas Grasslands and Savannas
Initiative (TGSI) and Texas Coastal Prairie Initiative (TCPI), which are part of NRCS’s Regional
Conservation Partnership Program, including implementation and renewal of programs.
• Develop regional workshops to educate landowners and prospective easement donors regarding
conservation options.
• Coordinate partner activities across the 13 counties included within the TCPI and the 16 counties
included within the TGSI.
• Monitor program budgets and expenditures, including subgrants to partners.
• Work with partners and contractors to report outcomes of the initiatives, including modeling and
measurement of carbon sequestration and other metrics.
• Assist land conservation team as needed to complete land acquisition transactions, including
development of baseline conditions report for selected conservation easement projects.
• Provide technical information and support for grant applications for land acquisition projects as
needed for selected acquisition projects.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED
• Willingness to work as a team player with an appreciation of the diverse values and interests of
others. The Regional Programs Manager is a key member of CPC’s land conservation team, which
also includes the Conservation Director and Conservation Associate. The Regional Programs
Manager will report to CPC’s Vice President and General Counsel.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree
preferred) in natural resources management, wildlife biology, rangeland ecology, environmental
sciences, land use planning, or similar area.
• Minimum of three years (preferably five) work experience in a related field, such as:
o Conservation, natural resources management.
o Agricultural science, range management, farmland protection.
o Grasslands, wetland ecology.
o Wildlife management, bird conservation.
o Real estate transactions for conservation, including fee simple acquisition and/or
conservation easements.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and GIS.

JOB DESCRIPTION
LOCATION & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Position will be based primarily at CPC’s offices in Houston, with regular meetings and events at
CPC’s Indiangrass Field Office on the Katy Prairie.
• Travel required to participate and host community events, to develop and maintain relationships
with agencies, partners, and landowners, and to engage in field work as needed to support
conservation projects.
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions and to walk unassisted through difficult terrain
in all weather conditions.
• Ability to frequently sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to frequently speak, read, write, and use a computer keyboard.
• May be required to work some evenings and weekends, as necessary.
COMPENSATION
• Salary commensurate with experience; range $55,000 – $68,000.
• Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan contribution, paid vacation, and CPC holidays.
• As an exempt, salaried employee, the Regional Programs Manager is not eligible for overtime.
