Restore America’s Estuaries seeks Consultant

We are looking to hire a student, ideally a graduate student, on a part time basis for remote work. This person would assist in the necessary research and development to update the Coastal Restoration Toolkit. 

Project Need
People living in coastal areas may identify natural resource issues or concerns that they would like to correct. However, they may be overwhelmed by the amount of information available about coastal restoration and not know where to turn or how to make progress. RAE and NOAA have created a website where people can get enough, but not too much, information so they feel empowered to further develop their own project ideas.

Overall Project Goal
A web-based tool that provides high-level, introductory educational information for community members on how to develop a restoration project from concept to proposal (“Toolkit”). The Toolkit answers questions on coastal restoration and provides access to resources to launch and begin developing a coastal restoration project. The goal is to have a useful, engaging and encouraging website that brings the basics on coastal restoration together in one space. Much of the information exists online or in printed form, but it has not been consolidated in one location. The Coastal Restoration Toolkit is a dynamic, interactive, and easy to navigate resource that takes community members through different levels of information.

Project Tasks
• Review and edit current Toolkit content on all pages to ensure relevancy and accuracy; including checking all links and videos
• Conduct research and develop information specific to Alaska and Hawaii; knowledge of Hawaiian and Native Alaskan practices will be a special feature
• Conduct web searches for new content for the “Project Example” and “Tools and Resources” pages

Time and Commitment & Qualifications:
• This is a part-time, contract position with the expectation of 10 to 20 hours per week of work; $15-$20 an hour
• Candidates should have experience in coastal restoration issues either from work experience or studies; ideal role for a graduate student looking for complement studies

Project Manager
RAE’s Senior Director of Restoration & Administration will serve as the RAE Project Manager for this project, and has full decision-making authority, including final approval, for the duration of this project.
