Houston Parks and Recreation Department seeks Natural Resource Technician

Houston Parks and Recreation Department is hiring a Natural Resource Technician (Semi-skilled Laborer) in our Natural Resources Division. This full-time position will perform field-based work including planting, mechanical and chemical invasive species removal, mowing, mulching, and staking trees. This work will be focused in habitat restoration sites including coastal prairie and riparian forest ecosystems.
The Natural Resources Division is responsible for all natural areas within the City of Houston’s 380 parks, including 26 Nature Preserves and over 30 habitat restoration project sites. The Natural Resource Technician will gain experience in hands-on land management, will work with a team of other natural resources professionals, and will be trained in a variety of techniques and equipment.
This position pays $15/hour, includes the City of Houston benefits package, and requires six months of prior related experience.
