Coalition for Environment, Equity, & Resilience (CEER)

Coalition for Environment, Equity, and Resilience mission is to raise awareness of the connections between pollution, place and the public’s health. CEER envisions a region that is equitable, environmentally sustainable and economically strong where residents have the opportunity to live, work, learn, play, and pray free from environmental hazards. To make that vision a reality, we advocate for public and private investment in protecting communities by cleaning up hazards that contaminate our air, water, and land, while at the same time prevent or reduce flooding.

Diluvial Houston Initiative

The Diluvial Houston Initiative is a project of the Rice University Center for Environmental Studies. Diluvial Houston: Rescued Histories, Engaged Humanities, and Imagined Futures proposes a new model for engaged humanities research and pedagogy focused on local partnerships that addresses the specific challenges Houston faces in times of environmental disaster. CEC attends monthly meetings with Bayou City Waterkeeper, Air Alliance Houston, Houston Climate justice Museum & Cultural Center, and The Nature Conservancy as a part of the Diluvial Houston Initiative.

Environmental Educators’ Exchange

The Environmental Educators Exchange (EEE) Virtual Meet Ups take place every other Friday at 8:30 AM. Join us for a chance to connect with fellow educators, swap stories, share resources, and build a sense of community! These meetings are hosted by CEC in partnership with Texas Association for Environmental Education. Email info@cechouston.org for more information!

 

 

Galveston Bay Estuary Program (GBEP) Subcommittees

Subcommittees of the Galveston Bay Council (the Council) meet quarterly or as needed to facilitate The Galveston Bay Plan’s day-to-day implementation activities. This includes developing projects and programs for each of the specific actions in The Plan.

Subcommittee meetings are open to the public. Meetings take place online and at the Estuary Program office at 17041 El Camino Real, Ste. 210 Houston, TX 77058. Gulf of Mexico Alliance (GOMA)

Since 2004, the five Gulf states have been the foundation of the Gulf of Mexico Alliance, a partnership network dedicated to working on issues common to the Gulf region. The members of the Gulf of Mexico Alliance include state and federal agencies, tribal governments, communities, academic organizations, businesses, and non-governmental organizations in the region. The overarching goals of the Alliance continue to be: providing forums for collaboration, developing and modifying tools to address regional issues, enabling strategic partnerships, and tracking restoration efforts.
 
GOMA additionally hosts several Teams and Workgroups to discuss area issues, projects working on the issues, and potential funding for the projects. Visit gulfofmexicoalliance.org to learn more!

Houston Climate Movement (HCM)

The Houston Climate Movement members come from across the greater Houston area and across Texas to strengthen our movement and find solutions to the climate crisis together. HCM hosts monthly coalition meetings for people to discuss environmental issues and solutions.

Houston Coalition Against Hate (HCAH)

Houston Coalition Against Hate is a network of community-based organizations, institutions, and leaders who come together to reduce hate and encourage belonging. Houston Coalition Against Hate (HCAH) is a 509(a)3 Supporting Organization with Greater Houston Community Foundation (GHCF).

Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC)

The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is the regional organization through which local governments consider issues and cooperate in solving area wide problems. H-GAC’s mission is to serve as the instrument of local government cooperation, promoting the region’s orderly development and the safety and welfare of its citizens. H-GAC hosts a variety of committees and workgroups, including:

Partners in Litter Prevention (PLP)

The Partners in Litter Prevention is a group of local organizations who investigate and prevent adverse impacts of litter and plastic pollution on the local environment. They operate within three primary working groups: Communication and Strategy, Research, and Removal. They meet regularly to ensure collaboration between the groups, plan strategic events, and more.

Texan by Nature

Texan by Nature (TxN) brings together conservation and business leaders to work towards the benefit of people, wildlife, native habitats, and natural resources. TxN achieves this mission through networks and programs, including Conservation Wrangler, TxN Certification, the TxN 20, Symposia series, custom initiatives through the membership program, and statewide initiatives such as Lights Out Texas and the Texas Water Action Collaborative.

In addition to the various amplifying and growth-oriented programs they host, they also partner with over 100 conservation organizations across Texas to connect them with the resources and relationships they need to extend their impact.
