Houston City Council Agenda – December 19, 2017

This city will consider the following agenda items at the December 19, 2017, Houston Council Meeting. The agenda items include a fifteen year recycling contract, designations to restrict groundwater as drinking water, and contracts for repairs of sewage systems.

25 – A fifteen-year contract, with one five year option was awarded to Fomento De Construcciones Y Contratas, Inc. DBA FCC SA, with a total amount to not exceed over $36.8 million. They will be responsible for providing facilities, equipment, labor, and services to receive, sort, process, store, use, and market recyclable materials collected by city crews.

31 – 27 acres at 12255 FM 529 and 0 FM 529 has been designated as an area where the groundwater is not allowed to be used as potable (drinking) water. The water is contaminated by various chemicals by Milner Road Building LLC and QuestSpecialty Corporation Application. The restriction will protect the public against possible exposure to the contaminants.

32 – 21 acres at 1705 Oliver Street has been designated as an area where the groundwater is not allowed to be used as potable (drinking) water. The water is contaminated by various chemicals by TexTile in the 1930s, but is currently owned by Summer Street Retail, LP. The restriction will protect the public against possible exposure to the contaminants.

43 - Over $3.8 million from the Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund was awarded to Industrial TX Corp for the Northeast Water Purification Plant Improvements. This includes replacement of underdrains (drainage systems under roads), repair and replacement of belt presses (used to remove water from liquid wastewater residuals), dredging of backwash recycle pond (removal of sediments/debris from bottoms of ponds), and construction of high service pump station.

44 – Over $1 million from the Water & Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund was awarded to Sewer and Storm Maintenance, LLC for sanitary sewer cleaning and inspection. The purpose is to reduce sanitary sewer overflows.
