WALK FOR WATER AND BUFFALO BAYOU REGATTA ARE SATURDAY

Texas’ largest canoe and kayak race, the Buffalo Bayou Regatta, is Saturday, March 24. The 15-mile USCA-sanctioned race begins at 7700 San Felipe (just west of Voss) at 9 am and ends at the Sabine-to-Bagby Promenade downtown about noon.Good places to watch the race:

• Woodway near 610 – get there by 9:30 to see the fastest kayaks
• The Ima Hogg bird sanctuary walking bridge at Bayou Bend – racers are expected there by 11
• The “dog beach” at Studemont off of Allen Parkway
• The race finish line is at the Sabine to Bagby Promenade – be there by 11:30 to see the frontrunners.
