“SUPPORT YOUR PARKS” DAY IS MARCH 8

Houston park supporters will be taking a bus to Austin on Thursday, March 8 to meet with state senators and representatives about park legislation.Diane Schenke, of the Park People, says that the trip is a crucial time because the legislature is already starting to pare down the budget that TPWD requested. “Plans are to meet with members of the Houston delegation and Appropriations Committee members, so we need more people to join us,” Schenke said,

The bus will leave 3015 Richmond at 8 am, and return by 7 pm. It will cost $30 per rider. Joe Turner, director, Houston Parks and Recreation Department, will provide legislative training on the bus. People who cannot travel to Austin are encouraged to visit their legislator’s local office and express their support for adequate park funding.
