As part of our meeting, we will have a guided tour of the Willow Waterhole Project , a multi-purpose flood retention project. Our guide will be Kevin Shanley, a prominent landscape architect in Houston who was involved in the development of the Project. With his help, we will learn about the Project’s purposes, how it functions as well as tour some of the ecosystem conservation and restoration projects taking place on site.

Specific Meeting Site: We will meet at the entrance to the Willow Waterhole Project (WWP) at the eastern-most dead-end end of the dirt road portion of Dryad Drive. Dryad dead-ends into one of the main areas of the Willow Waterhole Project. You will turn onto Dryad from Chimney Rock (at Westbury High School) and proceed east, through a gate, past baseball fields on your right all the way until Dryad ends at the WWP. Inside the WWP is a gazebo, where we will convene.

Parking: Parking is along the eastern-most dead-end end of the dirt road portion of Dryad Drive. Dryad dead-ends into one of the main areas of the Willow Waterhole Project.

Refreshments:
The refreshments are pot-luck….bring something to share with one another (including plates, utensils….reusable if you can). With our developing interests in sustainability, please consider bringing something that fits into one of more of the following categories:
-Fresh and/or Raw
-Home-made
-Locally-sourced
-Home-grown
-From Farmer’s market or similar

We will provide a water cooler for all. Feel free to bring liquid refreshments, too, and “adult beverages” (discretely, of course) are not discouraged. However….bring your own reusable cups and/or water bottles.

As usual, after our tour, we will discuss some EEE business as well as have our round-table introductions where you may share information about your adventures, successes and challenges in environmental education.

Other things to consider bringing:
-A chair
-Bug repellent (mosquitos)
-A head lamp or flash light for a dusk/night hike
-A friend and/or colleague
-Your own unique divinity (no substitutes, please)
