Description: What is a Better Block? Imagine pop-up stores occupying unused buildings, refigured streets to accommodate cyclists and pedestrians, and an abandoned concrete lot made-over as a plaza.

Join us to envision what is possible along Washington Avenue, with more pedestrian and bicycle amenities! Learn about Complete Streets, enjoy food trucks, music and vendors, and enjoy the day with family and friends.

It will be a free event, starting at the end of the Art Car Parade (which starts at 1pm along Allen Parkway) – a full day of fun and inspiration of what is possible with a little energy and some fresh ideas!

The event will take place on the 2000 and 2100 blocks of Washington from 3 to 10pm.

Among the attractions, we’ll have food trucks and pop-up shops, a crawfish boil at Liberty Station, art, a bike repair station (and training courses), music, sidewalk cafes, a dog park, games, shuttle service to and from the Art Car Parade and more! More details will be posted as vendors confirm!

Better Block Washington is coordinated to start after the Art Car Parade. Parking will be available (for both the Art Car Parade and Better Block) at the lots at Silver and Bingham, and Silver and Washington.
