- Tompkins: No cheap solutions for species invasions (Shannon Tompkins – Houston Chronicle, 03/04/2012)
Chinese tallow trees, which are non-native, invasive trees, are the most common tree in the region. Texas Parks & Wildlife is encouraging people to get outdoors this spring. It’s spring break for many, a good time to visit the parks in Texas. The drought may continue in the summer, so it is a good idea to enjoy spring while it’s here. Many burn bans have been lifted, wildflowers are beginning to bloom, and spring is one of the best times of year for birding.

Houston is encouraging clean alternative fuel vehicles, and in doing so, continuing to work toward its goal of becoming a green city. A new charging station for electric cars was recently unveiled at Memorial City Mall, just off I-10 at Gessner in west Houston. There is hope to see hundreds of new charging stations around the city by the end of the year.
