Description: You’re invited to attend the official public hearing on the proposed Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.
11:30am – Press Conference
6:00pm – Grassroots Rally
Citizens can make comments anytime between noon – 8:00pm.
NASA scientist James Hansen wrote recently, the “phase out of emissions from coal is, itself, an enormous challenge. However, if the tar sands are thrown into the mix, it’s essentially game over. There is no practical way to capture the CO2 emitted while burning oil, which is used principally in vehicles.”
It’s important that Texas citizens stand up and make their voice heard. We need to break our addition to oil and move towards a clean energy future.
The tar sands public hearing will take place in Austin on Wednesday, September 28 at the LBJ Auditorium. Each citizen is allowed to speak for 3 minutes, and the Sierra Club and Public Citizen will provide snacks and refreshments for our supporters.
Start Time: 12:00
