Description: Interested in learning some of the wildflowers growing in the Houston
area? Dr. Larry Brown, Houston’s preeminent botanist, will lead a walk in the park
to introduce you to our fall blooms and teach you how to identify them!

Dr. Brown currently teaches Plant Anatomy at University of Houston – Clear Lake. He
has authored and co-authored several books including the Checklist of the Vascular
Plants of Texas and many scientific papers. He started and maintains Houston’s only
professional Herbarium, housing thousands of plants at the RA Vines Nature Center
(Spring Branch ISD). Dr. Brown has also been the field trip leader for the Houston
Native Plant Society for many years, dedicating much of his time to helping others
learn how to identify the bountiful wildflowers of Harris and surrounding counties!
