Description: Please join CHILDREN AT RISK and our community partners for the second annual math and science education policy luncheon, “Inquiring Minds: Attracting Underrepresented Students to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.” This event will bring together educators and local leaders to discuss practical, action-oriented techniques for encouraging and enhancing K-12 STEM education. Particular emphasis will be placed on techniques that can be used to encourage girls and other underrepresented groups to become enthusiastically involved in STEM subjects. This event will feature a keynote address from former Hampshire College president Greg Prince regarding creative ways to spark kids’ interest in STEM; two panel discussions involving classroom and community experts; and an awards ceremony where local high schools that excel in math and science education will be recognized by CHILDREN AT RISK and El Paso Corporation.
