Conoe and Kayak with Houston Sierra Club

Title: Conoe and Kayak with Houston Sierra Club
Location: Armand Bayou Park pier, 4300 Bay Area Blvd
Link out: Click here
Description: Come join Sunday morning July 24 to paddle scenic Armand Bayou. This bayou has been designated a Coastal Preserve by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Texas Natural Resources Conservation Council. Armand Bayou is one of the few natural and undisturbed bayous in the Houston area. Motorized boat traffic is off limits, which provides a premier opportunity for canoeing or kayaking in complete silence. The group will be both starting and finishing at the Armand Bayou Park pier, 4300 Bay Area Blvd. This will be a morning trip to beat the heat (well – sort of !!). The group intends to paddle up to the Red Bluff Road bridge and back, making a trip of around seven miles both ways, if one takes into account the meanderings of the bayou. Water is flat and quiet, and in the morning we may awaken local wildlife including alligators. For trip info contact Gus Cei at guscei@yahoo.com (preferred method) or 713-962-5813 and for reservations John Berlinghoff at 713-644-8228 or (johnb@hal-pc.org), (preferred method). This will be a combined Houston Canoe/Sierra Club trip. Please note that all participants are required to wear life jackets and don’t forget your water !! If needed, there are also canoe and kayak rental opportunities in the Clearlake neighborhood.
