  1. 2nd Annual Oyster Reef Restoration Benefit. Come for the 2nd annual Oyster Reef Restoration Benefit on Saturday, August 20, at The Last Concert Café, 1403 Nance Street, Houston, 77002 benefitting the Galveston Bay Foundation’s oyster reef restoration efforts. $20 at the door includes a Mexican buffet and live music by Zentropy and Fly Mojo.   2. Regionally Coordinated Transportation Plan Meeting. H-GAC, with stakeholder groups and transit agencies, developed an Updated Regionally Coordinated Transportation Plan to coordinate public transportation services in the 13-county Gulf Coast Planning Region. To view the plan, visit http://www.ridethegulfcoast.com/. The public can make comments on the plan by sending an email to publiccomments@h-gac.com throughout the month of August. There will also be a public meeting on August 16th from 5:30-7pm at 3555 Timmons Lane, 2nd Floor Conference Room A.
  3. Unplugged Adventures: Meteor Madness! The Katy Prairie Conservancy will be hosting Meteor Madness, an event for participants to have a glimpse of the famous Perseid meteor shower in the wee hours of the morning. The viewing will begin at 8pm at the Matt Cook Memorial Wildlife Viewing Platform on August 12th. For more information, visit http://www.katyprairie.org/.
  4. KPC receives Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Trails Grant. The Katy Prairie Conservancy was selected to receive a $200,000 grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife to help support new trails at the Indiangrass Preserve. KPC is now designing new trails and restoring the front yard of KPC’s preserve by planting native grasses and wildflowers.
