  1. Go Green with the Houston Aeros. Enjoy an exciting night of hockey as the Houston Aeros take on the Rockford IceHogs on March 19th!   2. 39th Annual Buffalo Bayou Regatta. The Buffalo Bayou Partnership will be hosting the 39th Annual Buffalo Bayou Regatta on March 12th. It is Texas’ largest canoe and kayak race covering a 15 mile stretch. Festivities will take place at Sesquicentennial Park from 11am-2pm.   3. Spring Native Plant Sale March 12-20: Houston Arboretum & Nature Center. The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is encouraging gardeners to “Grow Native” with a spring plant sale, March 12-20 featuring hard-to-find native plants, grasses, shrubs and trees.   4. Avian Monitoring Volunteers. GCBO, Houston Audubon, and the Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition are coordinating an avian monitoring project in three areas of Houston to assess the impact of large buildings on neotropical migrants during spring migration. Possible sites include the Houston Center, Greenway Plaza, and Post Oak Central. Surveys will begin on April 3rd and will be conducted daily at approximately 7:00am and 7:00pm until May 15th. Each survey will require about an hour of time. You can volunteer for mornings or evenings and only certain days of the week if you like. You are not required to commit to doing all of the surveys!   5. Kayak adventure with Artist Boat. This spring break, Artist Boat will be offering half price trips to East End Lagoon. $25 gets you use of the kayaks, art supplies and 2 hours to enjoy Galveston’s natural beauty. Each day there will be 2 trips, from 10 am to noon and 1-3 pm starting March 16 and running through March 20. This gives you a total of 10 chances to get out and enjoy Galveston Island.
