Description: This year we will celebrate an unprecedented year of growth for Urban Harvest and the dedicated people who helped make it possible. We could not have accomplished so much without our wonderful volunteers, supporters and partners. One especially instrumental individual is Laura Spanjian, Director of Sustainability for the City of Houston. Ms. Spanjian is responsible for directing and coordinating projects and initiatives that improve air, land, and water quality; supporting and expanding recycling and composting; local food production; and more livable and vibrant neighborhoods. Most of all, she is an energetic partner of Urban Harvest, and we salute her as honoree for the 2011 Gala: Tastes of the Garden on Wednesday, March 9, 2011

This year’s event will be held at Trevisio, a beautiful restaurant nestled among the cityscape of the Texas Medical Center. Trevisio is operated by Tracy Vaught and John Watt, local restaurateurs and supporters of Urban Harvest and the weekly farmers market at Eastside. Executive Chef Jon Buchanan has planned a local, seasonal meal sourced from our market vendors, and we will also enjoy organic wines and local spirits!
