Title: Marketing & Outreach Assistant
FLSA Status: Part-Time – Hourly $19.00 16-20 hours a week based on needs of organization
Reports to: Executive Assistant
Job Purpose: The Marketing & Outreach Assistant is expected to have a strong foundation in best management practices for nonprofit management to foster and maintain Artist Boat’s growth through marketing. The purpose of this job is to provide day-to-day marketing assistance to the Executive Assistant, Development Coordinator, and Artist Boat Team Members to assure marketing and associated administrative functions are maintained and leveraged to grow Artist Boat’s donor, volunteer, participant, and employee base. Further, this employee is expected to grow programs through all marketing mechanisms available to Artist Boat (website, press releases, public service announcements, marketing and advertising, editorial columns, newsletters, email communications, social media, and Emma). As needed this person will assist in maintenance or entry of participant data into mailing lists and other platforms.

Essential Function:
Provide ongoing marketing and outreach support required for the successful function of the key focus areas for the marketing and outreach. Serve as an ambassador for the organization by articulating Artist Boat’s identity and mission whenever such communication is required (outreach booths on weekends, holidays, and special events). Manage and oversee the marketing calendar with the Executive Assistant, development staff, and program staff; Assure daily scheduling of and management and posting to social media sites (FaceBook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter), assist with production of Emma weekly and special newsletter distribution, and monthly press release distribution; and assist with tracking and determining impact for dollar with increased participation, engagement, and donor relationships. Lead person hosting booths at outreach events, communicating to team members requested information and assuring it is complete, improving booth FAQ list, and formalizing an SOP for booth process and standards for outreach to public during events.

- Ability to assist in a high-visibility and fast paced, sometimes stressful environment by setting achievable and accountable goals for marketing for content contributors and external providers.

- Ability to learn and acquire knowledge and skills related to administrative and office management, file organization (hard and electronic), and executive functions as they relate to marketing and marketing goals.

Communication/ Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to build and maintain constructive and effective relationships with staff, partners, and various outside individuals/organizations while accurately representing the philosophy and mission of Artist Boat.
Working Conditions/Physical Effort:
- Ability to manage time and keep a marketing calendar, ability to work with team members to obtain content, ability to think in advance to assure marketing is not last minute but, proactive.
- Be able to utilize personal cell phone to communicate.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
- File, retrieve, and maintain and organize documents and reference materials.
- Foster and maintain a professional atmosphere among employees in the office.
- Oversee, manage, and deliver via social media, newsletters, and Artist Boat’s website.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Several years of professional experience in a nonprofit or small firm setting.
- Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results. Familiar with administrative and marketing software, web sites and social media as priorities in achieving desired strategic goals.
- Passionate commitment to environmental and arts mission-driven organizations.
- Exceptional team skills, with the ability to assist the Executive Assistant in setting priorities, planning tasks, and managing multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to deadlines.
- Reliable, personable, and outgoing, able to work independently while part of an interrelated, small team environment.
- Exceptional Writing Skills.
