Houston Botanic Garden seeks BotaniCamp Summer Teacher

The mission of the Houston Botanic Garden is to enrich life through discovery, education, and conservation of plants and the natural environment. HBG is building an organization and a staff to welcome guests to its world-class botanic garden, which opened in the fall of 2020, and to inspire people to love plants and be good stewards of the natural world.
Houston Botanic Garden seeks a seasonal, part-time camp teacher for our 6 – week summer camp
program. Summer camps will run from June 17 – August 9, and take place Monday through Friday,
8am-2pm with after care from 2-5pm. Ideal candidates for the camp teacher positions are
enthusiastic, experienced educators, comfortable teaching a variety of plant and nature related topics
to K-5 students in a mostly outdoor setting, and available for all 6 weeks. Teachers will be required to
work 1-2 after care shifts per week.
Schedule and Salary:
- Schedule: during BotaniCamp part time, hourly. Weekday only
- Compensation range $16.50 to 18.50 an hour.
- Position is available on June 10, 2024
Job expectations and requirements:
- Must have classroom teaching experience
- Must be comfortable teaching a range of nature and STEM based curricula
- Able to have repetitive active days and spend time outdoors in the summer
- Maintain a warm and positive environment while establishing and managing camp rules and regulations
- Use a variety of teaching methods to present subject matter to campers
- Able to work with a diverse camp population with a broad age range
