Texas Community Watershed Partners seek a Wetland Extension Assistant
Texas Community Watershed Partners (a part of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Disaster Assessment and Recovery Unit) in Houston, TX is seeking applications for a Wetland Extension Assistant position, working 30 hours per week. This is a benefits eligible position. This position is expected to work in person at our Clear Lake Houston area office and the Exploration Green wetland nursery site on Seakale Ln. Houston TX. Hours will vary but must be available in the afternoons until 7pm at least 2 days a week from August- May and some weekend (Saturday) hours (1-2 times per month).
This position is responsible for assisting the GIFT (Green Infrastructure for Texas) Wetland Team Program Specialist with running various programs including 2 wetland nursery facilities, volunteer workdays, planting events, high school student afterschool career development program, and other outreach events.
Duties include driving a university vehicle, driving ATV, lifting, and carrying equipment (up to 40 lbs.), working outdoors in all types of weather, public speaking, and other duties as assigned. Cross training on related projects such as website updates, water quality sampling and reporting can occur within the GIFT team.
The applicant must be a self-starter with a positive attitude and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in the office as part of the growing GIFT team and with volunteers. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Wetland Ecology, Biology, Soil Science, or related field from an accredited program. Relevant work experience preferred. The applicant will possess good verbal and written communication skills. A clean driving record is required.
