The Woods Project seeks Program Manager

Program Managers work under the direction of TWP Program Director to facilitate and manage multiple facets of TWP’s school year and summer programs. Responsibilities include management of TWP School Partner relationships, after school club programing, fall and spring weekend camping trips, summer program, and gear maintenance.

Overall Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with TWP Staff and partner schools, organizations, and wilderness partners.
Work collaboratively to achieve TWP Mission goals.
Maintain and deepen relationships with TWP partners, ensuring compliance to the terms of MOU.
Manage TWP Partner School Coordinators.
Coordinate with TWP Finance and Operations Department.
Recommend program enhancements and complementary initiatives.
Update and grow TWP’s social media presence and website.
Participate in a staff capacity at TWP events including reunions, the annual luncheon, Walk for The Woods Project, and others.
Encourage student participation in Walk for The Woods Project and other fundraising events.
Assist with gear inventory and maintenance, pack-outs and pack-ins.
Participate in volunteer/leader orientation sessions and appreciation events.
Other duties as assigned.

Partner Relationships:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with new and existing school, community and wilderness education partners.

Club Program:
Lead/facilitate school club programs.
Maintain club program curriculum and supplies.
Maintain and manage records of club attendance and activities.

Weekend Program:
Serve as head weekend trip leader for a minimum of two weekend trips per semester.
Collect and file paperwork for students and volunteers.
Gear pack-out and pack-in prior to and upon the return of weekend trips.
Finalize weekend menus and buy lists.
Communicate with partner organizations regarding paperwork and weekend trip expectations.

Summer Program:
Work with summer wilderness partners to ensure quality educational programming.
Along with Program Director, ensure risk management protocols are adhered to and that all incidents are reported to TWP Risk Management Committee.
Update and maintain summer leader manual and training.
Coordinate and schedule Wilderness First Aid and CPR courses for trip leaders.
Pre-trip paperwork for students and volunteers.
Pre-trip summer phone calls to parents and students.
Participate in a leadership capacity at a national wilderness destination during a two-week, wilderness education immersion experiences each summer (depending on location, Program Manager may be required to arrive on location one-three days prior to trip).

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree.
Ability to work independently, with TWP staff and volunteers.
Strong leadership skills, ability to work effectively with others, ability to serve as a mentor as appropriate.
Experience working with high school youth, such as with summer camps, nature centers, parks, other outdoor/nature-oriented programs, or schools.
Love for the outdoors/nature and experience with camping/backpacking.
Willing and open to earning the trust of a diverse group of underserved youth.
Proficient in using technology to achieve program goals.
Strong problem solving skills.
Capacity to be a self-starter and extremely reliable.
Ability to work some nights and weekends, and participate in overnight programming, including extended travel during summer season.
Working knowledge of salesforce preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
Comfort with getting dirty, schlepping, and heavy lifting, whether in the outdoors or in a warehouse.
A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR.
Spanish language proficiency preferred.

    Salary range $42,000 – $50,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, working with a fun team, and the opportunity to make a huge difference.
