Student Conservation Association seeks Houston Public Works Interns
The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is seeking local applicants for a Houston Public Works internship with the opportunity to secure a permanent position. Eight internship positions are available. The intern will work within the Stormwater Operations Branch to provide vegetation management within the City of Houston.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Training on mowing practices of green spaces in the City’s right-of-way and on off-road drainage channels
- Observing and working side-by-side with certified herbicide applicator personnel
- Joining city personnel in training opportunities for green stormwater infrastructure maintenance.
INTERNSHIP DETAILS:
- February 6 – August 6, 2023
- Living Allowance: $600 per week (all allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes)
- AmeriCorps Education Award valued at $3,247.50 for 900 hours of service for a 26 week position

REQUIREMENTS
It is SCA’s policy that all AmeriCorpsrequired background checks must return cleared results prior to the position’s start; this includes being fingerprinted for the FBI check. Otherwise, the AmeriCorps award will be removed or the position’s start date will be delayed due to non-compliance.
