Houston City Council Agenda – October 12, 2016
The city will consider the following agenda items at the October 12, 2016, Houston City Council Meeting.
- 7 – Council will approve spending authority in an amount not to exceed $367,839 for the filter underdrain repair project for the Department of Public Works and Engineering. To date, a total of five of the original filter underdrains at the Northeast Water Purification Plant have experienced failure as a result of installation issues which date back to the original construction. The plant must maintain minimum pressures in the distribution system to meet regulatory requirements, and without the replacement of the underdrains, the plant will not maintain its drinking water production capacity. This replacement project should sustain the plant for an additional 10-15 years.
- 12 – Ordinance approving contract among the City of Houston, Alief Independent School District, and SPARKÂ to provide $150,000 in grant funds for the development of a neighborhood park at Bush Elementary School.
- 26 – Ordinance approving an inter-local agreement between the City and The Old Spanish Trail/Almeda Corridors Redevelopment Authority for the construction of improvements to the historic Emancipation Park. The project is nearing completion, and the grand opening is scheduled for November 12, 2016.
- 27 – Ordinance appropriating $2.5 million out of the Parks & Recreation Dedication Fund for the purchase of approximately 150,000 square feet of land located at 3100 Wilcrest for use by the Houston Parks & Recreation Department. HPARD proposes to partner with the Westchase District for a future park development project.
- 28 – Ordinance appropriating $1 million out of the Parks & Recreation Dedication Fund for the purchase of approximately 76,000 square feet of land located at 3901 Woodchase Dr. for use by the Houston Parks & Recreation Department. The City is expected to enter into an inter-local agreement with the Westchase District for operation and maintenance of the future park.
