Houston City Council Agenda – September 14, 2016
The city will consider the following agenda items at the September 14, 2016, Houston City Council Meeting.
- 12 – Resolution designating The Hidalgo Park Quiosco, located in Houston’s East End neighborhood, as a protected landmark.
- 23 – The Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD) will request Council approval to submit a grant application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the development of a park and outdoor amenities on Westheimer Road in the Montrose neighborhood. HPARD is requesting $1,000,000 in assistance for the development of the park.
- 24 – The Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD) will request Council approval to submit a grant application to the Texas Coastal Management Program to restore a section of industrial property between Buffalo Bend Nature Park and Hidalgo Park. HPARD will request $400,000 in assistance to construct hike and bike trails along the bank of Buffalo Bayou.
- 31– Ordinance prohibiting the use of groundwater located beneath an industrial tract of land on Maxroy Street in the Houston Heights neighborhood. The groundwater is contaminated with a myriad of substances. This ordinance will restrict access to this groundwater in order to protect public health.
- 39 – Ordinance appropriating approximately $24,000 out of Parks and Recreation Dedication Fund for the purchase of a plot of land known as 0 Lucky Street in the Acre Homes neighborhood for the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. HPARD desires to enlarge the eastern boundary of Sylvester Turner Park.
