Description: Originally located on the banks of Buffalo Bayou and serving mostly communities along its shores, the Port of Houston today is an international juggernaut, ranking first in the U.S. in volume of foreign tonnage, second in total tonnage in 2010 and as one of the top 20 busiest ports in the world.
With incredible growth has come incredible opportunity as the port is a major economic catalyst for the Houston region. Chairman James T. Edmonds and Executive Director Len Waterworth will discuss how the Port of Houston Authority delivers growth in the region through its capital improvement and economic development efforts, security advancements and environmental stewardship despite the economic climate.
