Description: Natural Beekeeping, at the University of Houston Central Campus, Room Oberholtzer Hall
Natural beekeeping provides training for individuals interested in learning how to keep bees. The goal is to support sustainable, organic beekeeping. This class includes the types of hives, where they can be kept and how they can be managed. The class will follow the methods outlined by Ross Conrad in Natural Beekeeping. As part of the class, we will drive to one of Jennifer’s bee apiaries kept on land in the 5th Ward.
Instructor
Jennifer Scott has been self employed as a carpenter and landscaper for 12 years, and an urban beekeeper since 2005. Starting her Bee Wrangler business in 2007, she has established bee apiaries in Alvin, Wharton, Rosenberg and near Japhet Creek in the 5th Ward. Jennifer is also a mother of four.
