Take an evening hike along Buffalo Bayou and view the bats as they emerge from beneath the Waugh Street bridge at sunset. The City of Houston has constructed new trail connections that link parkland in the area. We will take a hike using some of these new trails to reach the Waugh Street bridge. The bat colony population peaks towards the end of summer, after the year’s pups have fledged. The tentative start time will be 7 pm when the sun should be lower and temperatures moderating.
