Information and Panel Discussion Summer Forum: Metro’s General Mobility Referendum

CEC is hosting a Forum for CEC member groups and friends to learn more about and discuss Metro’s continuing allocation of 25 percent of transit taxes for ‘general mobility,’ and the likely environmental impacts of their decision.

Date: Tuesday, July 17, 2012
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Location: United Way Community Resource Center, 50 Waugh Drive, Houston, TX 77007
Admission: Free

Complimentary light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Please RSVP to – Katie@cechouston.org

Purpose:
To learn about and discuss the potential environmental ramifications of Metro’s decision – to either continue to allocate 25 percent of transit taxes to pay for ‘general mobility’-related development; or – to reallocate a portion of this increment to support enhanced transit development. Participants will consider and discuss what this means for each member organization’s area of focus, and for the regional community’s collective environmental agenda.

Format:
The forum will provide the opportunity for participants to consider multiple perspectives, the result of presentations by a range of relevant subject-matter experts, balanced with discussion among one another. The day will begin with a 30 minute period for check-in, refreshments and networking. The agenda will include a series of speakers supported by a moderator, and will then be followed by a speakers’ panel for questions and general discussion.

Desired Outcome:
To illuminate the critical issues involved in this referendum; to better understand how the referendum may impact CEC member groups, as well as how the environmental community might work together, regarding next steps, to influence a preferred outcome.

Speakers:
Speakers have been selected to represent stakeholders and provide important perspectives regarding this issue. The speaker line-up will be announced next week. Please join us!
