Description: Invaders of Texas Program training will be held May 17 from 9:00AM to 4:00PM
at the Brazoria County AgriLife Office, 21017 County Road 171, Angleton TX
77515-8903. This program is an innovative campaign whereby volunteer
“citizen scientists” are trained to detect the arrival and dispersal of
invasive species in their own local areas. That information is delivered
into a statewide mapping database and to those who can do something about
it. The premise is simple. The more trained eyes watching for invasive
species, the better our chances of lessening or avoiding damage to our
native landscape. The program is operated by the Lady Bird Johnson
Wildflower Center in partnership with Texas Invasive Plant and Pest Council
(TIPPC), Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Texas Forest Service, USDA
Forest Service Forest Health Protection, USDA Forest Service National
Forests & Grasslands in Texas, The National Biological Information
Infrastructure (NBII), Texas AgriLife Extension, USDA Animal and Plant
Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and the Texas State University System.
