Enjoy an 8 mile late spring hike on the Tarkington Section of the Lone Star Hiking Trail (LSHT). This is one of the few places in Sam Houston National Forest where you can see Longleaf Pine trees as the trail winds its way along Tarkington Bayou. If you are interested in camping after the hike please contact Jane Prentiss and let her know. Bring your daypack, three quarts of water, lunch, hiking shoes, hat, and clothes to fit the weather..
