Description: Take a Turtle Barn Tour: Guests will have a chance to get an inside look at Galveston National Marine Fisheries Service sea turtle laboratory and view 350 sea turtles raised as part of conservation efforts to reduce fishing impacts on sea turtles in the Gulf of Mexico.
Meet Carole Allen: Carole Allen has been instrumental in protecting Kemp’s ridley sea turtles for the past 30 years, and her efforts are featured in the April issue of Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine and have been featured in Oprah Magazine and the book Eco-Barons.
Meet Todd Steiner: Biologist Todd Steiner has been advocating successfully to protect sea turtles and their ocean home globally since 1989, and has changed Mexican law to make killing sea turtles illegal, protected key migration “swimways†for the endangered Kemp’s ridleys and other species, and helped return over 350,000 hatchlings to the sea.
