Description: Come help us by participating in a community restoration project through:
• Promote environmental stewardship through planting activities
• Participate in a 3 hour planting activity
• Learning the importance of dunes for our island
• Increase your environmental knowledge through education and self-awareness

Why: Our dunes need your help recovering from the devastating effects of Ike in addition to constant
erosion from man and natural causes! Learn about the functions of our dunes which not only serve as
physical barrier protection, but as essential habitat to a variety of species including nests for the
endangered Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle and the Wilson’s plover.

What: Opportunity for the community to engage as coastal stewards through planting a variety of native
dune plants which include seaoats, bitter panicum, railroad vine, sea purslane, and marsh-hay cordgrass.

Cost: No cost for the Habitat Restoration Adventure Program, lunch is not included.
