Description: The January meeting of the LOWER TRINITY VALLEY BIRD CLUB will be held on, Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the meeting room of the First Liberty National Bank located at 1900 Sam Houston in Liberty. From Hwy. 90 turn on Travis Street, between Kentucky Fried Chicken and Whataburger, cross over the railroad tracks and take a right into the bank parking lot. Our speaker for January will be Charles Post: the presentation will be Bluebird Basics and More. Charles Post is our local Bluebird expert. Charles has been a member of the North American Bluebird Society since the early 90’s and served on the Texas Bluebird Society board for 2 years. He has given programs on Bluebirds and their conservation to school groups and clubs in south Liberty County through the years. Charles has been interested in Bluebirds since youth, but really became involved in their conservation in 1989. At that time he began building nest boxes and maintaining a Blue Bird Trail in and around south Liberty County. At one time, Charles monitored approximately 70 boxes. Presently, Charles is semi-retired from monitoring, but still maintains some boxes in Liberty.
