Description: With its share of the global energy use at nearly 25%,
the United States is the second largest energy consumer
in the world. Buildings alone in the USA account for 72%
of electricity consumption, as well as nearly 40% of
energy use and all carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Texas has the highest energy consumption in the US and
also produces the most carbon dioxide. In the course of
the last couple of years, the state has therefore started
several energy efficiency initiatives. For example, the City
of Houston has initiated an Energy Efficiency Incentive
Program, which offers financial incentives to building
owners and managers for administering energy efficiency
measures. Furthermore, many cities, including Austin,
Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and Plano, now require
the implementation of LEED (Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design) Standards for new buildings.
The goal of the 4th German American Energy Efficiency
Conference 2011 is to provide information about current
trends in energy efficiency in buildings as well as to explore
the market potential for companies working in the field of
energy efficiency in Texas.
The key-note speakers will include decision makers representing German and American companies as well as representatives from leading research institutions, government agencies and industry associations. In addition, several German companies in the field of energy efficiency in buildings will be in attendance to establish business relationships with Texas-based companies.
