  1. TCWP Wetland Delineation Course. Texas Coastal Watershed Program is offering a Wetland Delineation Course for anyone interested in training. The Texas Gulf Coast is one of the hardest spots in the United States to do wetland delineations, and this course offers the skill and knowledge of local and regional experts. The course is held from September 26th-30th at the Sheldon Lake State Park. A special rate of $400 is offered to the staff of non-profit organizations, and agencies.   2. Green Buildings: LEEDing for the Future. The Summer Salon Series continues on August 30th from 7:30-9am at Canopy with a discussion about Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).   3. Water: Challenges Facing the Houston Region – Part 2. Rice Design Alliance is hosting a forum on water supply issues in the State of Texas and the Houston region on August 31 at The Museum of Fine Arts at 6:30pm.   4. Highland Bayou Public Meeting. This meeting kicks-off a state funded community-based plan to improve the waters of Highland Bayou and others. The planning team is looking forward to hearing from the public their comments, feedback and input about the conditions of bayous. Local residents will have opportunities for long-term engagement on the project. Highland bayou and its tributaries are listed by the State of Texas for high bacteria levels and low oxygen levels.   5. STS-AIChE September Monthly Meeting. The September STS-AIChE meeting will be held on September 1st, 2011 at AramcoServicesBuilding, 9009 West Loop South, Houston, TX – 77096. The dinner presentation topic is Integrated Complexes – A Luxury or Business Necessity? and our dinner speaker will be Shankar Vaidyanathan, technical director of Process Technology & Engineering for Fluor in Sugar Land, TX. The presentation will cover refining and petrochemical industry trends, the challenges to staying in business and be profitable in the marketplace, industry impacts, the opportunities for synergy and the business case for integration.
