  1. 2nd Annual Oyster Reef Restoration Benefit. Come for the 2nd annual Oyster Reef Restoration Benefit on Saturday, August 20, at The Last Concert Café, 1403 Nance Street, Houston, 77002 benefitting the Galveston Bay Foundation’s oyster reef restoration efforts. $20 at the door includes a Mexican buffet and live music by Zentropy and Fly Mojo.   2. Water: Challenges Facing the Houston Region. Rice Design Alliance is hosting a two-part civic forum on water supply issues in the State of Texas and the Houston region on August 24 and August 31 at The Museum of Fine Arts. Part one will address urban growth and competition for water, and part two will concern water quality issues and solutions to water shortages.   3. Citizen Scientist Trainings. Texas Stream Team and the Houston-Galveston Area Council are offering six citizen scientist trainings at the Meeting of the Monitors on Saturday, from September 29th to October 1st at the Hilton Houston NASA Clear Lake. Participants will be trained to monitor waterways for nutrients and turbidity; to measure streamflow; to identify invasive species, freshwater mussels, and benthic macroinvertebrates; and to identify unique characteristics of aquatic ecosystems by dissecting fish.   4. Clean Fleet Technologies Conference 2011. The Clean Fleet Technologies Conference 2011 will be occurring on October 19th from 8am-4pm at the Humble Civic Center. The conference will cover cutting-edge fleets and alternative fuel including natural gas, propane, electric vehicles, ethanol, biodiesel, and fueling station.
