Of the many animals that call the coastal prairie home, none is more misunderstood than the snake. Snakes are very important members of the prairie community, keeping rodents and other animals in balance, providing food for hawks and other predatory birds, and symbolizing the wildness of our remaining grasslands.

About this class:Snakes of the Coastal Prairie will provide a survey of the snake community of Harris and surrounding counties, give participants a chance to interact with live snakes in a safe environment, and will address myths and misconceptions about these fascinating animals.
