Teri MacArthur serves the local community as manager of the Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center. She is a local naturalist who has lived in Oak Ridge North for more than 30 years. Since entering the Texas Master Naturalist program more than 10 years ago, Teri has had a strong interest in the writings and philosophy of Aldo Leopold. Leopold proposed the idea of a “land ethic” in which man is simply another organism that must rely on fellow parts of the land to survive, rather than a dominator of the community of life within it. In the “Heartwood Reads Leopold” event, Teri will give the audience an opportunity to participate in learning more about Leopold’s view of nature and man’s role in managing it. Bring your copy of Sand County Almanac.
