Green Team America and Green Bank Present: Arbor Day with Annual Tree Sale

Title: Green Team America and Green Bank Present: Arbor Day with Annual Tree Sale
Location: Bank: 4000 Greenbriar (at US 59), Houston, TX, 77098
Link out: Click here
Description: More than 500 trees will be available for a suggested $10 donation, benefiting non-profit Green Team America (GTA). Varieties will include: Flowering Cherry, Pear and Plum; Magnolia; Red Buds; Crape Myrtle; Cedar Elm; Burr Oak; Chinquapin Oak; Live Oak; Shumar Oak; Chinese Pistache and a few citrus.

The tree sale is hosted by GTA and Green Bank. Tree experts will also be on hand to answer questions about the different varieties and best growing conditions: Matt Weaver, a Staff Forester with the Texas Forest Service, and a representative with Tree Town USA (the largest tree farm in America). They will also provide printed material on how to plant and care for each tree sold.

Houston has now weathered two consecutive winters with hard freeze conditions that have taken their toll on native shrubs and trees, particularly the younger saplings planted after the destruction of Hurricane Ike. As an early celebration of National Arbor Day, GTA and Green Bank wanted to hold this event for Houstonians seeking to repopulate their properties with local varieties of trees (and have something beautiful that can be enjoyed for generations).
